At the Wiltern last Saturday night, we experienced greatness. Rachel Price may be the greatest alive singer. The band is great too, yet she seems greater than the sum of their parts. The next time Rival Sons comes to LA, it will be at the Greek or the Hollywood Bowl due to their momentum. I've seen Rival Sons twice now, first at Hotel Cafe in April and then at the Wiltern. As for Dustbowl Revival, I was predisposed not to like them but they did a great job. The mixers at the soundboard, however, did a terrible job. They brought up levels in quieter parts of songs, resulting in unnecessary and detracting sound. All dynamics were lost, and it was abominable.
